Take Action Now: ICW Sisters in Solidarity with Women Living with HIV in Nepal
The International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW) is deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the two earthquakes that struck Nepal on April 25th, 2015 and May 12, 2015. Our heartfelt thoughts go out to our sisters in Nepal who are struggling to survive the current disaster. But we want to do more than just express our sympathy. ICW is stepping up to raise funds that will directly go to women living with HIV on the ground in Nepal for urgent basic needs during this critical period. We are calling on our sisters (partners, allies and friends) to join us.
We are asking you to take action and make a donation to an ICW-dedicated Woman-to-Woman Emergency Relief Fund for the women in Nepal. The money we raise will enable our networks and support groups on the ground to get necessary support directly to women living with HIV and their families.
Woman-to-woman, we can make a difference
In Nepal, our networks are on the ground mobilizing to assess and to provide urgent basic needs and to ensure that the disaster response addresses the needs of women living with HIV and their families. ICW member organization, the National Federation of Women living with HIV and AIDS (NFWLHA), part of ICW Asia Pacific, is a grassroots network of women living with HIV in Nepal comprised of 33 organizations from 23 districts. NFWLHA has already reached out through its grassroots networks in Makwanpur, Dhading, Gorka, Nuwakot and Kavre Districts and has so far identified over 100 ICW members in desperate need of basic necessities including food, water and shelter.
4000 Nepal Rupees or just under 40 USD will provide 30kg rice, 3 liters of oil and 2kg pulse (daal), enough food to sustain a family of 4 for up to two weeks and a tent that will sleep a family costs approximately 2000 Nepal Rupees or just under 20 USD.
Every penny raised will go directly to networks of women living with HIV on the ground in Nepal for needed emergency relief and basic supplies such as food, water and shelter.
We urgently appeal to you to please make a donation to show your support to our sisters in Nepal.
